Mother and son on firearm, drug charges

MEMBERS OF THE Drug Squad have arrested and charged Shaqaan Greenidge, 17, of White Hall #3, St Michael for the offence of unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to police public relations officer Inspector David Welch police executed a search warrant at the residence yesterday and the firearm was discovered.
Meanwhile, his mother 34-year-old Juanita Greenidge of the same address was arrested and charged for possession of 30 cannabis plants, cultivation and trafficking.
The plants were found under cultivation at the same home. 
The Greenidges appeared at the Oistins Magistrates Court today and Shaqaan was remanded until April 24, 2014 to appear at the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court. 
His mother pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $6500 on the charge of possession, to be paid by July 4, 2014.  She was convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the remaining charges of cultivation and trafficking. (PR/NB)
