CLOSE TO 1 000 revellers took to the street for the first-ever Joukanal Carnival.
Dressed in colourful costumes, the revellers in 11 bands made their way from the Party Stand on the Harbour Road, along Spring Garden Highway to the roundabout at the bottom of University Hill and back.
Main organiser Chetwin Stewart of PowerX4, said the response to the two-day event was so great, they were already planning to attract a more international audience to fly into Barbados for what will be called the Joukanal Spring Break Carnival next year. (YB)
