Dames winners, Brittons Hill in draw
MACKESON Brittons Hill stumbled for the second time in less than a week when the Digicel Premier League continued on Thursday at the National Stadium.
After suffering their first defeat last Sunday, Brittons Hill were held to a goalless draw by the lowly Pharmaceutical Plus Cosmos while in the second encounter Claytons Kola Tonic Notre Dame edged long-time rivals Direct TV Paradise 1-0.
Brittons Hill missed a golden opportunity to go back on top of the table but credit must be given to Cosmos. They defended well and frustrated the Valery lads, who now lie in third spot on 17 points. Cosmos are lingering in eighth position on five points.
Notre Dame rebounded from their 2-0 defeat to Wales last Sunday to achieve an industrious 1-0 victory over their arch- rivals from the south. A sixth minute own goal by Paradise central defender Barry Skeete was all that was needed to take the Dames to 10 points and into fifth position.
Paradise missed an opportunity to level the score in the first half when Armando Lashley fired his spot kick off the right upright and away from danger.
Paradise threatened via the set piece route as they tried to capitalise on their obvious height advantage but the Dames defence stood firm to not just secure victory but register their first shut out of the season.
In the lone Premier League encounter at Dover, Silver Sands blanked Magnum Tonic Wine Dayrell’s Road 3-0, thanks to goals from Shane Welch in the 43rd, Cameron Lewis in the 71st and Lloyd Wilkinson in the 90th minute.
