Focus on the Cross

The faithful gathered in the churches of Bridgetown yesterday as different denominations celebrated the Christian holiday of Good Friday.
Methodists and Anglicans at two of Bridgetown’s historic churches heard readings from the Gospel of St John and the relevance of the crucifixion of Jesus.
At St Mary’s, the location of Bridgetown’s first church, Reverend Dr Von Watson warned his congregants that they were “here on this Good Friday because of what Jesus has done for us”.
“We must be very careful in our daily lives,” he said. “We have to be very careful because we can place ourselves in that camp where we can challenge Jesus to do something for us or we can leave it up to Jesus to deal with us graciously to do what he see best,” Watson added. (HLE)
