THE FUTURE CENTRE TRUST took its Earth Day message to the people yesterday to highlight the environmental issues facing the island and the world.
Scotiabank Broad Street was the venue for the trust’s exhibition and message, and executive director Cherice Gibson told patrons of the bank that the significance of Earth Day dated back quite some time.
“The point is for us to think about our impact to the environment, to think about what we can do to preserve the environment and really pass on a legacy to our children so that they can carry on seeing the beautiful scenery and the animals that we have come to appreciate and love,” she said.
Scotia’s business officer William Harewood said the bank’s partnership with the trust was one way to show its commitment to energy conservation and a greener way of living.
He said the bank had supported the trust on a number of initiatives and tried to follow international best practices.
Harewood urged patrons to stop by the display and learn about the ways they could conserve energy, reduce waste and help the environment. (HLE)
