Artists need to get act together

PETER RAM is right. The local reggae artists need all the support they can get.
But the artists must give something that demands that support.
Though not wanting to be too hard on the Bajan acts that performed at the Digicel Bajan Reggae Night 2014, it was obvious that over enthusiasm got in the way of vocal quality and lyrical clarity as too many tried for maximum impact during what has now become their 15 minutes of fame annually.
The excessively high decibel levels and clashing instruments competing for limited “air space” shattered the environment – and the acoustics of the Reggae Lounge did not help.
One of the more promising acts was Sista Kaye Zebulon who also introduced her 11 year son Ra’oul during one of her songs. (JS)
