CASTRIES – The family of property developer and hotelier Oliver Gobat, who was reported missing, has said that he is dead.
Family sources told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that they released a statement on Wednesday confirming the death of the 38-year-old businessman.
Assistant Commissioner responsible for crime Frances Henry told a news conference on Wednesday that a post mortem examination of the charred remains had presented two possible scenarios – blunt trauma to the head or possibly gunshot.
According to Henry, preliminary information suggested the identity of the individual, but due to the lack of facial recognition, the police were relying on the results of a DNA test before issuing a definitive statement.
“I know that I have seen photos of an individual and there has been a name brandished all over the place, but we are saying as a department definitively that we do not know who that person is,” Henry said. (CMC)
