FINANCE MINISTER Christopher Sinckler is not yet letting go the date for this year’s Budget.
In fact, he says he does not know when it will be.
When he was questioned today about a date, Sinckler said: “I can’t say at this stage.”
Questioned further about what might be in the Budget, he added: “I don’t even know when it is, so I can’t say what is going to be in it. When the time is right, we will let the country know when the Budget is coming, but any Budget that is to be done will be focusing on growth.”
Sinckler contends that the harsh measures instituted by the Government, including the hundreds of layoffs in the public sector were bearing fruit.
He said the path to recovery would not be an overnight process and he couldn’t predict the next cycle of boom, but the measures currently are to place the island in a position to profit from that boom, whenever it occurs.
Sinckler was on the last stop of a scenic bus ride treat for senior citizens from his St Michael North West constituency. (HLE)
