Red Cross reaching out to youth
THE RED CROSS Society is looking to have a presence in every school by the end of the year.
Youth Director Peterson Yearwood said the Red Cross has arms in 16 secondary schools and one primary, and that youth volunteers number 250. He said they were also looking to form partnerships with the tertiary institutions.
In addition to volunteering at events, Yearwood said the youngsters in the Red Cross work towards 10 badges including First Aid/CPR, HIV/AIDS, Disaster, Water Safety, Junior Nursing and Environmental Awareness.
Peterson was speaking at a meet and greet session at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, Holetown, St James as part of activities for Red Cross Week. (YB)
