More support for parents

ANOTHER GROUP has been formed to help parents in Barbados and the wider Caribbean enhance their parenting skills.
The My Child and I Charity was launched today at the Hilton Barbados resort, and chairman Francine Charles said it was because parents across all social classes in the region were facing various hurdles in their efforts to raise healthy, positive and progressive children.
“Challenges are getting different and multifaceted, especially with the advent of new technologies and are becoming apparent in the region’s social and economic landscape.
“No socioeconomic group is being spared.  This is no longer an issue of any particular group in our society,” she said.
Charles noted that the charity was put in place to assist the existing organisations and to build a bridge between those who have that information and those who need to hear it.
“It was not set up to simply add another child-centred organisation to the list. We are not here to replace any organisation. This entity is offering a bridge, a helping hand to an existing team,” she said. (LK)
