PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Police say four men are assisting their investigations into the murder of prominent senior counsel, Dana Seetahal, who was gunned down last week as she made her way from a casino.
Media reports Sunday said the men were detained in police raids in Arima, east of Port of Spain and Petite Valley, west of the capital.
Media reports quoted the police as saying that they had identified one of the men involved in carrying out the murder on the former legislator and law lecturer after images from close circuit television (CCTV) had been “cleared up”.
The state has offered a reward of TT$2.5 million for information leading to an arrest and conviction, while Crime Stoppers International is offering one million dollars for information regarding the murder of the 59-year-old senior attorney, whose body was cremated following a funeral service last Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Security has downgraded the national alert status to “Green” from “Orange”. It did not give any reason for the de-escalation of the threat.
