Five deputy principals?will be moving up the ladder come September 1.
Yesterday the Personnel Administration Division (PAD), through the Ministry of Education, issued letters of appointment to five of the more than 30 applicants who were interviewed for the vacant posts of principals.
After receiving calls yesterday morning, the three women and two men were invited to attend a meeting at the Ministry of Education at 3 p.m. where they met with Minister of Education Ronald Jones and other top education officials before being given their letters.
The MIDWEEK NATION has learnt that Dennis Browne, who was deputy principal at St George Secondary before he was shifted to Grantley Adams Memorial as acting principal, was confirmed in that position; Yvette Mayers, deputy at Christ Church Foundation School, will move to The St Michael School; and deputy at Springer Memorial Secondary, Beverley Bancroft, will take the top spot at Graydon Sealy Secondary.
Michael Boyce, the “baby” of the lot, will be taking over at The Lester Vaughan School. He was appointed as deputy principal at Frederick Smith Secondary School last September.
And for the first time in its 281-year history, Harrison College will have a female principal. Juanita Wade, the deputy at Queen’s College, will be taking up the position.
