There is enough disquiet in the society and business community about the Municipal Solid Waste Tax that should cause Government to revisit it.
This is the view of Minister of Industry Donville Inniss, who said yesterday that Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler had also indicated similar feelings.
“There is enough of a concern that merits us as politicians, us as parliamentary representatives, and us as ministers and as a Cabinet, sitting down and taking great note of the arguments put forward,” Inniss told reporters during a tour of McBride Caribbean Ltd in Lowlands, Christ Church.
“Not the political arguments and the fluff and emotional stuff, but really to sit and ask ourselves if it is having the desired impact upon families and upon businesses as anticipated. If it’s not, what can we do about it?” he added.
He said the tax, which was based on 0.3 per cent of the site value of each landowner’s property, was part of a much larger concern.
