Barbados win U-17 cricket tourney

BARBADOS ARE THE CHAMPIONS of the WICB Regional Under-17 Cricket Competition, and they scraped home by the slimmest of margins today in Tobago.
Barbados finished with 19.9 points, 0.4 (all bonus points) more than the Windward Islands who lost to Trinidad and Tobago by seven runs. Jamaica were third with 18.6 points.
Set 122 to win by Jamaica, Barbados reached 127 for three in 34.3 overs.
Captain Leniko Boucher fell for one in the first over, but fellow opener Dikembe Wilson batted through the innings for a patient 51 off 117 balls. Tashawn Boyce scored 32, Yvan Grant was also not out on 19 and Nicholas Kirton scored 14.
Earlier, Tremaine Harris took three for 20; Dominic Drakes three for 30 and Shamar Springer two for 28 to bowl out Jamaica in 31.3 overs.
Brad Barnes led the Jamaican batsmen with 39 runs, captain Michael Frew scored 23, wicket keeper Jordan Hill 20 and Malik Thompson showed some lower order fight with 21 off 29 balls.
In the other match, Leeward Islands beat Guyana by 18 runs, their first victory of the competition. (SAT)
