Thrilling Massy Pan
Massy Pan Pun De Sand climaxed a three-day extravaganza put on by the National Cultural Foundation as part of the 40th anniversary of Crop Over.
Held Sunday at Brandons Beach, the performances were energetic, with brassy showmanship and theatrics that played off of the football World Cup final that was being shown on a big screen mere yards away.
Massy All Stars out of Trinidad, sponsored by Massy for the past 25 years, showed why they are one of the best steel bands in the world. With a ten-song set, they had the crowd dancing along to numbers such as Earth Wind And Fire’s September, Mistah Dale’s Soka Junkie, and Taurrus Riley’s One Drop. They also teamed up with local steel orchestra Mosaic to pay tribute to Ras Iley’s Spring Garden On Fire.
