Pay tax
A Leader of the evangelical church community, Bishop Gerry Seale, is advising Barbadians to pay the contentious solid waste tax.
But while revealing that he had already paid in his half and had instructed the local members of his Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) to do the same, Seale also warned that the “onerous” and “unjust” tax “is pushing this Government towards the increasing floodwaters where its moral right to govern is being eroded”.
Seale, the Presiding Bishop of the Barbados District of PAWI, made his feelings on the newly imposed municipal solid waste tax known in a Letter to the Editor emailed yesterday.
Citing Matthew 22:15, Mark 12:13-17 and Luke 20:20-26, Seale encouraged the property owners to, “pay therefore to Caesar the things that are due to Caesar, and pay to God the things that are due to God”.
