Tropical Depression No. 2
THE BARBADOS Meteorological Services is monitoring the progress of Tropical Depression No. 2 which formed to the east of the Lesser Antilles yesterday evening.
At 11 a.m., the centre of the depression was located near 12.6 °North, 48.0° West or about 775 miles (1 250 km) to the east of Barbados.
Movement is towards the west at 17 miles per hour or 28 km/h and this general motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
The depression has shown little change in strength over the past 12 hours and environmental conditions are not conducive for any further strengthening at this time.
However, the system is expected to spread some moderate to heavy showers, isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across Barbados late tomorrow and into early Thursday morning as it moves across the region.
The Barbados Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the progress of this system. (PR/SAT)
