THE BARBADOS WATER Authority (BWA) is hoping other corporate entities follow its lead and assist a sick child.
Chairman Dr Atlee Brathwaite yesterday presented a cheque to Corey Mitchell, uncle of newborn Sebastien who requires urgent treatment for a rare case of congenital heart disease.
Sebastien was airlifted to the Funacion Cardioinfantil Hospital in Bogota, Colombia, on Wednesday night and is expected to be hospitalised for six months.
“We recognise and know that such action will require strong moral support, as well as sustained financial assistance. BWA, as a responsible corporate citizen with a human face, takes this opportunity to join the rescue mission by giving moral support as well as a small donation in the amount of $5 000. Though small in terms of the possible financial cost that is expected to address this serious condition. . . .[we] deeply hope this could contribute to Sebastien’s recovery and rehabilitation,” Brathwaite said, adding that the BWA liked to know that it looked after the youth.
