THE ENDEAVOUR Co-op Credit Union Limited continues to honour its late former president Olga Watts by providing scholarships.
Current president David Bowen said Watts had an interest in continuous education and they started the memorial scholarship based on that premise.
“We try to honour her by providing scholarships for our junior savers who sat the 11 plus [Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination]. We do not look at who has done the best or worst, we give to them all,” he said.
This year, four children received the scholarships. Yesterday, they – or a representative – attended the ceremony at the credit union’s Harrison Road, Belmont Road, St Michael. Bowen said they would be seeking to expand the programme and improve the scholarship amount. (CA)
