OTTIS GIBSON won’t be putting on his coaching boots for the Dhaka Bank Cup cricket series between the West Indies and Bangladesh, bowling off in Grenada tomorrow.
It could also be the end of the road for Gibson as West Indies’ head coach.
In a brief telephone interview with NATIONSPORT last night while in a meeting, West Indies’ Cricket Board (WICB) president Dave Cameron confirmed that Gibson was not with the 13-man squad in St George’s as they go through final preparations before taking on the Tigers in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), a Twenty20 International and two Tests.
But Cameron said he couldn’t “confirm or deny” whether the 45-year-old Barbadian has been fired from his position as West Indies’ head coach well ahead of the end of his contract in October 2016.
