THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY of Barbados is bursting at the seams again.
After recently moving from its original location in Wildey, St Michael to Landsdown, Silver Sands, Christ Church, due to space constraints, founder and chief executive officer of the medical institution, Dr Gary Barr, said they might soon need to seek permission to acquire land to expand.
“We are looking for space. The ambience here is suited for education but we need more room so we will consider adding on and will ask Government for permission to build more buildings.
“There are a lot more applications, probably doubled by this September. We are stretching our seams here at Landsdown, so we’re looking to move our students to outside facilities and housing,” he said.
Barr was speaking to the media during the second day of a tuition and career fair at the university. He said it was an opportunity for prospective students to meet staff, and they had also invited financial institutions should the students need such advice. (CA)
