NEW PRINCIPAL of The Lester Vaughan School, Captain Michael Boyce has laid down the ground rules for his expectations of his charges, or what he termed the five Ps.

Addressing students, teachers and chairman of the board, Edward Tull, at full assembly yesterday morning, he warned students of the Cane Garden, St Thomas school to be punctual, prepared, positive, polite and productive.

“Those students who like to hang around Bridgetown for an extra five or ten minutes until that particular bus or that particular van comes, don’t risk it. Get on the first thing and come to school. When you come to school you are to go to your classes and you’ll be punctual for your classes. Whether the teacher is late or not, it’s not your business and no excuse. When the teacher gets to the room, all of you should be there seated and . . . ready to get down to some serious work.”

The former deputy principal at Frederick Smith Secondary, one of five new principals appointed since September 1, told the students their preparation must start at home.
