Push for film sector
Government has established a Film and Digital Media Commission with the aim of helping the budding film industry to develop further.
Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley made the announcement last night at the launch of the Barbados Visual Media Festival.
The minister revealed that his ministry would shortly be moving to regularise film-making in the country so as to reap the maximum benefits to be derived from the sector.
“Our aim is to develop our film industry into one of high quality and one where demand can be stimulated. These activities, appropriately developed and managed, have the potential to open doors for job opportunities,” Lashley said.
The festival runs till October 16 with a number of screenings across the island. (SDB Media)
