Barbados aiming to surpass IMO standards
Barbados not only wants to meet but to surpass standards set by the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) conventions.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport Richard Sealy made this point today during a service at the Church of the Nazarene in Collymore Rock, St Michael to launch Maritime Week.
He said Barbados had recently adopted an IMO convention on the manner in which labour at sea is to be treated.
Sealy lauded the contributions of seafarers to the island’s development and announced that Government would erect an “appropriate monument” to these people. (TY)
