Barbadian-bred horse Voldemort finished fifth in the NGC/CNG Trinidad Derby this evening at Santa Rosa Park in Arima, Trinidad.

With jockey Rickey Walcott aboard, Voldemort was among the early leaders on the inside but faded to fifth over the final 400 metres.

Patrick Husbands did not ride Momentum as scheduled, so it was Trinidadian Brian Boodramsingh who saddled the lucky horse and won the TT$500 000 Grade 1 race, creating history with a Triple Crown as well.

Jamaican horse Princess Popstar, which was previously unbeaten, finished second and Glorious Country third.

Jalon Samuel, the other Barbadian jockey in the race for West Indian-bred three-year-olds over 2 000 metres, finished at the back of the 11-man field on long shot Freedom Fighter. (SAT)
