United Commercial Autoworks Limited (UCAL) and the Transport Board are at loggerheads again.

This time, UCAL workers have pledged to down tools today in protest at the company not receiving monies to pay outstanding salaries and wages, which are due today.

The latest development followed a staff meeting yesterday, called by UCAL’s managing director Frederick Gittens, who said there were insufficient funds to pay the 100-odd workers.

When contacted for comment, Transport Board marketing manager Lynda Holder said: “I am going to advise you to contact Mr Gittens, who is managing director of UCAL, and would be better able to respond to that.”
