IT’S STATION HILL versus UWI. Again.

Defending women’s basketball champs Station Hill Cavaliers and rivals UWI Blackbirds have advanced to a second successive league finals showdown after both predictably finished off first-round sweeps on Tuesday night at the YMCA.

Led by Ria Phillips’ 18 points, the Cavs blew away Combined Schools Hoopsters 60-39 before Blackbirds guard Toni Atherley had another huge double-double effort by erupting for 37 points and 12 rebounds in UWI’s 87-46 rout of Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics.

It’s the fourth title of any kind the two teams will be contesting following this season’s knockout final and the 2013 league and knockout championships – all won by Station Hill.

The best-of-three finals are slated to start on Sunday at a venue yet to be disclosed. (JM)
