BGA expects CAC medal

LOCAL GOLF could be on course for regional glory.

Don’t count the sport out of the medal hunt at this month’s Central American and Caribbean Games, as Barbados Golf Association president Cally Boyea believes top player James Johnson can finish inside the top three in Mexico.

Boyea made the assertion during yesterday’s launch of the RBC Golf Classic while explaining Johnson’s absence from the highly-rated two-day championships.

“James has put in so much work into it because he recognises the long-term benefits of doing well, as this could take him to the Olympics, so we’re fairly confident he can come home with a medal,” said Boyea.
