Cops: Illegal City parking a headache

Nearly 300 parking tickets are being issued on a weekly basis for illegal parking, especially in Bridgetown.

But some are being thrown away by motorists, said Sergeant Seibert Johnson of the Royal Barbados Police Force’s mobile division.

He was busy yesterday with other officers patrolling The City in an attempt to clear the streets of illegally parked vehicles ahead of the Christmas season.

Johnson told the MIDWEEK NATION some motorists were completely ignoring the law and parking indiscriminately.

“We are trying to get the City clear,” he said, “but we need a wrecker, towing facilities and clamping facilities.”
