ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board’s Selection Committee today named Assad Fudadin to the West Indies Test tour to South Africa.

The 29-year-old Fudadin replaces Darren Bravo who had been offered a contract for the series.

However, Bravo wrote to the Chairman of Selectors Clive Lloyd, and citing personal reasons, requested that he not be considered for selection for the Test series.

A left handed batsman from Guyana, Fudadin played three Tests in 2012 against England and New Zealand.

In addition, the Selection Panel has requested that fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell play for Jamaica in the third round of the Professional Cricket League in order that the selectors have an opportunity to evaluate his match readiness.

Cottrell will therefore not depart the Caribbean with the rest of the squad for South Africa on November 30. The left arm fast bowler recently returned from the West Indies “A” Team tour of Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury.

Squad: Denesh Ramdin (Captain), Sulieman Benn, Jermaine Blackwood, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Sheldon Cottrell, Assad Fudadin, Shannon Gabriel, Christopher Gayle, Jason Holder, Leon Johnson, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor and Chadwick Walton.
