THE HEAVY RAINS that affected Barbados took a toll on the first day’s play of the WICB Professional Cricket League match at Windward Cricket Club.

Defending 4Day champions Barbados Pride and the Jamaica Franchise were scheduled to start their contest today, but Barbados was placed under a flash flood warning at 6 a.m. following heavy overnight and early morning rain.

Umpires Joel Wilson and Gregory Brathwaite made the formal announcement that there would be no play today at approximately 11 a.m., after the persistent showers had left areas of the outfield waterlogged. (WH)
