THE CHEAPSIDE MARKET in St Michael is to get a facelift.

This was revealed on Tuesday by an official in the Ministry of Agriculture.

He said the ministry was looking at ways of improving the physical appearance of the market and upgrading the facilities.

The market, which is a run-down state is still in operation, but workers have voiced concerns.

They said some sections were badly damaged by recent rains and the place was over-run by rats and other vermin.

The official said he could not state at this point what refurbishing would be done, but recommendations had been forwarded to the ministry, by the officer in charge of markets.
