Away from the classroom, teachers set aside the books to have an evening of fun and relaxation at the end of the recent Teachers’ Week.

The week of activities saw the teaching fraternity focusing on professional matters, but come Friday evening they headed to the Barbados Union of Teachers’ “Merryhill”, Welches headquarters to socialise and “eat some good food”.

The BUT was celebrating its 40th year, and president Pedro Shepherd saw it as the ideal occasion to present awards of appreciation to Angela Smart, Walter Harper, Vaman Harbin and Maxine Husbands, stalwarts of the organisation.
