Recognising the importance of the day to this country’s sports tourism drive and to racing enthusiasts, the directors of the Barbados Turf Club were happy to consent to a full day’s progamme for today’s rescheduled – Barbados Winter Jockey’s Challenge Race Day starting at 2 pm.
Over the years, race fans have always held Saturday as a sacred day for racing, and today’s midweek event will be a massive change from the norm under the circumstances, made by the heavy rains that drenched Barbados last weekend.
Adoring fanatics are expected to converge at the Garrison Savannah today in large numbers mostly after work to witness the crème de la crème from of British-based and Barbadian jockeys battle for riding supremacy.
At the centre of attention on the second day of the BTC’s third and final season is the appearance of Frankie Dettori one of the world’s finest exponents of riding for well over a decade, in his first ever outingat the Garrison.
