The Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) will be looking to upgrade its national infrastructural development plan.
This was announced yesterday by the minister under whose portfolio it falls, Michael Lashley.
“We have the CDB [Caribbean Development Bank] loan and IDB [Inter-American Development Bank] loan and we have to make sure those monies are utilised to strengthen the infrastructure network in Barbados and bring about standards and quality to the roads,” he said.
He added that MTW would also have to determine whether asphalt or concrete roads were better for the country.
In relation to the collapsed road at South District, St George, Lashley said he was pleased that repair work had started, and added that a temporary access road would be provided for residents. (MB)
