THE FIRST OF two BB Fashion Week (BBFW) runway showcases came off last night on the Peninsula Terrace of Hilton Barbados before an intimate and appreciative gathering of fashion enthusiasts.
Jewellery by Antonia, Ling Ling by Jacqueline Benn Schuppe and Carlori by Carla Gittens were the local collections on show while Haitian-born Charles Corvsky Dieujuste brought some regional flair.
Students of the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination opened the show with a dance presentation.
The ninth annual event began on Friday night with a cocktail extravaganza and continued early Saturday with a workshop entitled Fashion is Big Business. Celebrity designer Viktor Luna of Project Runway fame was the keynote speaker.
BBFW’s executive producer Rodney Powers revealed that Luna will be providing internship opportunities next year for designers enrolled in the Caribbean Market Centre’s programme.
Tonight the highly acclaimed designer will share the runway with Karlos Nunez for the Toast to Fashion finale, again at Hilton. (NB)
