From the tiniest tot to the senior citizen were decked out in blue and yellow as Barbadians celebrated 48 years of the island’s Independence yesterday.

Children decked in their blue and yellow T-shirts chased each other happily around the King George V Memorial Park as their parents lounged on the ground tucking into plates of delicious smelling Bajan fare.

Rice and peas, fried chicken and macaroni pie were served up at various locations around the park by at least five different groups, while at least three church groups from Seventh-Day Adventist denominations engaged in fun-filled activities like a game of cricket.

In addition, members of the Church Village Community St Philip Carnival spent their summer fun day playing dominoes and testing their knowledge in a number of quizzes. (HLE)
