MADRID (AP) – Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez injured his right calf during the 3-0 win over Celta Vigo today.

The 23-year-old Colombia international asked to be substituted and walked off the Santiago Bernabeu pitch in the 53rd minute with Madrid ahead 1-0.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti says “he has a calf injury. We will evaluate it in the coming days.”

Madrid signed Rodriguez to a six-year deal after securing his transfer from Monaco following his outstanding performance at the World Cup, which he led with six goals.

Rodriguez has appeared in all 24 games Madrid has played across all competitions. He has scored nine times for the European champions.
