Protest against breakwater
A surfer who rides the waves at Sandy Lane beach is protesting apparent plans to build a breakwater in the area where they surf.
Last Thursday, popular surfing instructor Samuel “Sammy” Inniss, armed with a banner with the words: Save Sandy Lane Surf Break: No Breakwater, walked the beach which is located behind the exclusive Sandy Lane Hotel, soliciting signatures from hotel guests and beach users against any proposals to construct a breakwater – a barrier built out into the sea to protect the coast from the force of waves.
He has also taken to Facebook to protest.
Inniss plans to submit the signatures to the Town and Country Planning Department and the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU).
