Dominica Elections: At a Glance

ROSEAU, Dominica – The ruling Dominica Labour Party (DLP) on Monday secured its fourth consecutive term in office with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit winning his third consecutive term in office in a race against the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP).

Preliminary results showed that the DLP won 15 of the 21 seats while the UWP held six. Although it was a historic fourth term for the DLP, the UWP won an additional three seats. None of the independent (IND) candidates were successful.

roosevelt-skerritSkerrit, won his Vielle Case constituency and UWP leader, Lennox Linton won the Marigot constituency which he took over from former prime minister Edison James.

DLP has won Laplaine, Morne Jaune, Salybia, Colihaut, Vielle Case, Paix Bouche, Grand Bay, Portsmouth, St Joseph, Mahaut, Petite Savanne, Cottage, Roseau Valley, Castle Bruce and Soufriere. That is three few fewer seats than the party won in 2009.
