LIME are BCL T20 champs

LIME, bolstered by the inclusion of Barbados and West Indies ‘A’ all-rounder Ashley Nurse and T20 specialist Javon Searles, proved too strong for Old Brigand Melbourne and strolled to a comfortable victory by 24 runs in yesterday’s final of the Barbados Cricket League’s Twenty20 competition.

In the match played before a buoyant, bumper crowd that would have been the envy of the sponsors of the leading domestic limited-overs competitions, a winning target of 152 proved too stiff for the Haynesville, St James-based Melbourne, who stumbled to 127 for nine in 20 overs after dismissing the champions for 151 with one ball remaining.

LIME, who lost the toss, owed their challenging total to a seventh-wicket stand between Nurse and Wesley Straker, who came together in the ninth over with the Wildey club in dire straits.
