THERE IS A silver lining to what was turning into a blue, blue Christmas for a Canadian couple staying in a Worthing, Christ Church apartment.

Ten days of unpleasantness came to an end around 9:30 p.m. Christmas Eve when the cries of Danny and Toula Sculac were finally heard.

They had arrived on December 13 for a belated anniversary trip ten years after they tied the knot here. Their eight-year-old son Lucas, on his first trip, joined them at Gentle Breeze from the cold of Toronto full of excitement, but that faded just two days later.

gentle-breeze-sewageThe Sculacs were battling the stench and water from a broken sewerage line on a property next door to Gentle Breeze. It was particularly bad after 8 p.m., they said.
