CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) – Sri Lanka were 84 without loss in their second innings, trailing New Zealand by 219 runs at stumps today on the second day of the first cricket Test at Hagley Oval.
Sri Lanka were bowled out for 138 in the first innings, with a lone 50 from Angelo Mathews.
Trent Boult and Neil Wagner both took three wickets.
New Zealand 441 (Brendon McCullum 195, Jimmy Neesham 85, Kane Williamson 54; Angelo Mathews 3-39, Suranga Lakmal 3-90). Sri Lanka 138 (Angelo Mathews 50; Trent Boult 3-25, Neil Wagner 3-60, Tim Southee 2-17, Jimmy Neesham 2-28) and 84-0 (Dimuth Karunaratne 49, Kaushal Silva 33 not out).
