THE BARBADOS TURF CLUB (BTC) is still in the dark about night racing ever coming to the Garrison Savannah.

BTC president Sir David Seale has revealed that an appeal on the decision regarding night racing at the venue has been pending since May last year, and feels one should be heard soon.

The appeal has to do with the Town and Country Planning department turning down
the BTC’s original application to erect 28 poles around the Garrison, which would provide lighting to the facility for night racing.

The poles are 70 feet tall and eight inches tall at base.

The appeal is being handled through the Prime Minister’s office and Richard Gill, a former town planner, is representing the Barbados Turf Club on the matter.
