IT WILL be an athletics love affair on the National Stadium on Valentine’s Day.
The 12th edition of the popular Barbados Relay Fair on will be dubbed the Valentine edition when it is held on February 14.
According to meet director, June Rudder several regional teams have already expressed an interest in the event.
“The introduction of new teams brings freshness to the event and is therefore very welcomed,” Rudder said.
“All athletes benefit from such exposure and many of the participating teams have used the event as a stepping stone to bigger and more intense competitions outside of the region,” she noted.
The event continues to cater to athletes in all age groups with relays in the Under-11, Under-15, Under-17, Under-20 as well as for clubs and institutions and the Over-45 Masters runners.
All participating teams compete for points in three relays while there will be a divisional champion in each age category.

Meanwhile, a packed programme has been planned for the annual Joseph Payne Memorial Classic on January 31 at the Stadium starting at noon.
A whopping 59 track and field events are slated to be contested as well as ten cycling races. (EZS)
