HEALING HERBS: Stop fussing and drink carrot juice

DAILY, PEOPLE OFTEN ASK ME: “Annette, how are you today?” My response is always: “I cannot complain.” I have grown to adore my answer.

However, would you ever imagine that such a simple, sincere answer could cause a few people to become embroiled in a frenzy? Some of the frazzled people would respond: “Wait, for the last 20-something years I was asking you that question and you keep saying you cannot complain. You ain’t got nothing to complain about?”

In response, especially if we are having that conversation via the telephone, I would just twirl up my eyes and conserve my natural, everlasting, joyous energy.

I avoid complaining about my journey here on earth because we are all eternally endowed. Why should I complain when I am the Creator’s symbol of love?

Recently I received a free demonstration and a gift of a Greenis slow juicer. I humbly received it without complaining and it is working like a dream. Now I am going to be looking more rosy and glowing because of the magnificent juicing features of my slow juicer.

My favourite silent doctor for juicing is carrots, which I often mix with beets. Carrots contain biotin, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, organic sodium, Vitamin A, C, D, E, K, and B1and B6.

Juicing carrots, especially in my new juicer, has proven effective. Research shows that drinking fresh organic carrot juice can assist with healing acidosis because carrots have the ability to balance blood acidity and blood sugar. Carrots can assist in detoxifying the liver and this will prove effective for people who are challenged with acne.

Children with threadworms can drink at least three glasses of carrot juice daily. If you find yourself constipated, use carrot juice and celery at least four times daily. Inflammatory conditions related to gout, arthritis and rheumatism can be treated with pure carrot juice.

High cholesterol sufferers can find relief from the pectin properties in carrots. Kidney problems are often spoken about in Barbados and the Caribbean and it may prove effective if carrot juice is included more in the diet.

Additionally, the immune system will receive a solid boost by drinking fresh carrot juice daily. Ulcers, cancer, atherosclerosis, asthma, emphysema, fertility and the challenges of the optic system can be prevented by including carrot juice in our daily meals.

Finally, I will try to illuminate my path with glowing orange carrots as we prepare to celebrate African History Month in Barbados. As a teacher and herbal educator, I would advise you to stop complaining; instead, exercise, heal with herbs and, like me, drink carrot juice.
