PORT OF SPAIN – Two senior ministers in the Trinidad and Tobago government have been given the boot.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar last night announced that she had axed Attorney General Anand Ramlogan as well as her National Security Minister Gary Griffith in a major Cabinet reshuffle.

Ramlogan is facing a police investigation into allegations that he sought to pervert the course of justice.

In a 20-minute radio and television broadcast to the nation, Persad Bissessar also announced the removal of her Minister of Sports, Dr Rupert Griffith, and Minister of Justice Emmanuel George.

The prime minister has also removed Stacy Roopnarine from the Ministry of Transport and Works to the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development, and revoked the appointments of Senate President Timothy Hamel Smith and Embau Mohini in her fourth Cabinet reshuffle since coming to power in 2010.
