Rat scare at two offices

RODENTS RUNNING across desks, caught in traps and droppings on the bed in the first aid department.

These and more were enough to send staff from two departments, which fall under the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Culture, into car parks yesterday.

And shop stewards from the Barbados Youth Service (BYS) and the Youth Development Programme were adamant – staff would not be going back into the respective buildings until reports from the Ministry of Health were in hand and industrial cleanings done.

However, said Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Ruth Blackman, the ministry was looking into the issue and industrial cleanings are scheduled for the weekend.
