Dowrich’s chanceless 131 not out formed the basis of the Pride’s first innings 406 for six declared before two-wicket hauls by Brathwaite (2-8) and fellow pacer Tino Best sent the Hurricanes reeling to 84 for five by the close.

Barbados, resuming on 182 for four, started cautiously as Dowrich and overnight partner Roston Chase remained bogged down by the visitors’ bowlers, eking out a mere 20 runs in the first hour, with Chase adding two to his overnight total.
