PLANS TO make the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) the island’s sole importer of poultry meats have been scrapped.

Minister of Industry Donville Inniss announced this yesterday, telling the DAILY NATION a decision had been taken to let the old import system continue.

Inniss said agreement had been reached on this during a meeting held last Monday morning at the Ministry of Agriculture involving himself and ministry staff, along with Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick and officials from the BADMC, the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
